The sell-out musical drama "Becoming Garland Avenue" returns to Garland's Plaza Theatre in April 2020 to continue to tell the rollicking story of Garland's early days in 1913 and some of the town leaders that were part of strategizing its future. With 10 original songs (two new added in 2020), six new characters, and a freshened original musical score, the musical reflects on a time in which a major residential expansion is planned for the city and shares citizens' reactions, pro and con. In 2019 this was performed at the Plaza to a packed crowd despite torrential rain and is being brought back because of overwhelming citizen requests. Sponsored by the nonprofit Garland's Historic Magic 11th Street. To be viewed during two matinees--3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19, 2020.
